King Of Answers 3rd On Debut at Bangor-on-Dee!

On Wednesday, October 4, 2023, King Of Answers made his debut under rules, becoming the first Claymore Racing runner. He finished a credible 3rd in a competitive 10-runner bumper at Bangor-on-Dee!

He finished off the race strong, coming from a few lengths behind Ridge Hill in fourth, 2 furlongs out, to passing the post 5½ lengths in front to finish 3rd. Unfortunately, King was hampered at the start and pushed out the back, giving him a steep mountain to climb, but it was a brilliant learning experience for him nonetheless. Cannock Park, the winner, was both a year older than King and more experienced, having finished 2nd by 1½ lengths in a 2m1f bumper round Carlisle at the end of March this year. King is bred to be a staying chaser, which is why we bought him (it is the type that Lucinda does really well with). He was gaining towards the line, and to place in a 2m bumper shows he has a good bit of ability and a lot of potential to uncover going forward.

Lucinda Russell: “I am absolutely delighted with King Of Answers today. I thought, considering he is a four-year-old, he is inexperienced. I know he had his two point-to-point runs, but that was grown-up stuff today. We dropped him in, as you saw, and gave him a bit of time to get into his race. He was bumped and bashed around a bit, but he coped with that. I think he galloped into it and stayed on really well. The two in front of him had quickened up away from him, but he stayed on past the fourth-placed horse, and as a first run for a four-year-old under rules to come third in his first bumper, that is fantastic. I am very, very pleased with him, and I think he will go on from there.”
